The King and I …

the king and I“When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town, learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisees house, she brought and alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears.  Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them…”

Luke 7:37

How my heart craves, and deeply feels  the love this woman had for her King… I can picture her desperation.. Her pain, and the amazing hope she saw in who Jesus was…

Can you picture her?

From the back of the room, we see a beautiful woman enter; her long beautiful hair draped in a veil…  She is walking gingerly; carrying a beautiful Alabaster jar filled with her precious perfume…

Jesus cannot see her coming, but she sees him….she has her eyes fixed intensely on Him.  As she is making her way through these men, these Religious leaders, These Pharisees…   she can feel their haughty eyes piercing through her.  She knew who was in this room before she walked in the door, but nothing or anyone would keep her from coming to Him.. She very well knew what they would be thinking  about her…

she could feel their disgust.

But there she was…crying, shaking.  The crowd starts to whisper to each other, voices become low and quiet.  She reaches Jesus, she is standing behind Him, weeping at His feet, she bends down low, and begins to wet His feet with her tears, and wipe them clean with her hair.

The room has gotten strangely quiet…

She begins gently kissing His feet, opening her beautiful jar of perfume, she begins to, ever so lovingly, pour it over His feet…  There she stood, completely broken,

completely vulnerable…

There was nowhere else she wanted to be.

No where…

She must have felt so safe in His presence.  Nothing could have hurt her more, or torn her heart apart any more; than the life she was living…   Not their words, thoughts or anything they could have said or done..  She knew who she was.. what she had become… Nothing could keep her away from the love she felt from Him.

It’s personal.  Our faith.  Our walk… Our Journey.  If you are willing to lay down your heart, your Heavenly Father, will gently, lovingly… carefully pick up each broken piece…

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you this new day, longing to trust you as this beautiful woman… this known sinner did.  To walk into your chambers broken, wanting and completely needing You. No more hiding, No more secrets.. No hidden motives or agenda.  Just complete abandonment…

I surrender all…

I give you all of the broken pieces, all the lies, heartache and pain.. Oh Lord, I am standing with open hands… naked and needing You to fill my heart…

May I be a woman after Your own heart.. Unafraid. Cleansed and ready to live my life in Your presence.. filled with Your love; and excited to be the woman You know I am.  The woman you created me to be…

May I live my life in love, hope and harmony because You are my Salvation, hope and redeemer…

How I love You,

In Jesus Name,

Amen
